THESIS PROJECT
A process of personal investigation that challenges what is conventionally understood as “sound” by translating what is heard into what is seen and felt.
What the project explores is sound-as-concept; this is divided up into three strands: "suspended sound," "sound constellation" and "the flight of sound."
Though not always rational, the everyday photographic moments capture manifestations of sound in motion. These are composed and narrated from a
set of three booklets (each exploring a proposed strand), a sculpture that communicates a feeling of its topographical movement texturally and emotively,
and a poster that collages some of these ideas through superimposing image and text. (3 4x5” booklets printed on kraft paper/newsprint, perfect-bound;
sculpture using nylons, crocheted piecies, fish wire, needles; an 18x24” poster on kraft paper; all original photos/illustrations).
